1. There are 4 stances of
Lord Buddha Statues, according to historical evidence and literature.
They are Standing, Sitting, Walking and Reclining. However, in Sri
Lanka, statues with walking stance can not be seen, even though they are
found in South East Asian countries like Thailand. In order to fill this
gap, this great statue will be constructed for Buddhists to worship in
Sri Lanka.
2. World's tallest statue with walking stance is found to be in Thailand
with a height of 52 ft. Hence, this proposed statue with 60 feet will
become the tallest of its kind in the world.
3. To construct a 5 story Exhibition Building (Pradarshanagaaraya) that
will accommodate wall paintings of historical places that are indigenous
to the North-Western Province.
4. To make this temple, a principal educational centre in the country
for those who are interested in the history, religion and art.
